Neighborhoods like Applewood, Bel Aire, and Fruitdale have big, mature trees and sewer laterals that have been in the ground since the 1950s and 60s.
Old lines, big trees
Sewer laterals from that era were often clay or cast iron. Clay joints let roots in; cast iron corrodes and scales on the inside until the pipe narrows. Either way, the result is the same: a drain that slows down, then backs up, usually at the worst time.
It's probably the main line if
- Two or more fixtures back up at the same time
- The basement floor drain overflows when you run the washer
- Toilets gurgle or bubble
- The line clears, then backs up again within weeks
Clearing vs. fixing
A root cutter clears the line and gets you flowing again. If it needs clearing more than once a year, a damaged section is usually letting roots back in, and we'll tell you that straight instead of booking you every few months.
What we clear
- Kitchen sink and disposal lines
- Tub, shower, and bathroom sink drains
- Toilets, floor drains, and laundry drains
- Main sewer lines, with root cutting
