Hard water is what wears most of them out. It runs from soft in Arvada to very hard in Thornton, about 13.5 grains per gallon, with Highlands Ranch, Aurora, and Westminster not far behind. A yearly flush and an anode check every few years add years to a tank.

We test backflow assemblies (RPZ, DCVA, and PVB) for shops, restaurants, offices, apartment buildings, and HOAs, tag them as Colorado requires, file the report with your water provider, and quote any repair before doing it. New customers pay $95 per device for their first test.
Can plumbing or irrigation companies subcontract backflow tests to you?

How long do water heaters last in Denver?
A tank water heater typically lasts about 8 to 12 years, and a tankless unit longer with regular descaling. Hard water shortens that: it ranges from soft in Arvada to very hard in Thornton (about 13.5 grains per gallon), so flushing the tank yearly and checking the anode rod every few years help a heater reach its rated life.
